A Wausau Region Chamber of Commerce member since 1937, Wipfli LLP (Wipfli), a CPA and consulting firm, has a long history with the Chamber and the Wausau community. In addition to helping thousands of individuals with their personal tax, estate, and financial planning needs they have also helped hundreds of local businesses, the lifeblood of our community, start, grow, and prosper.
The firm’s Wausau office employs 109 associates, including 44 CPAs and provides a wide range of business and consulting services to public and private companies in a variety of industries including manufacturing and distribution, health care, financial institutions, construction and real estate, dealerships, nonprofit, and government.
Ed Koth, partner-in-charge of the firm’s Wausau office, says that beyond the variety of services the firm provides, one of the keys to Wipfli’s longevity (the firm was founded in Wausau in 1930 by Clarence J. Wipfli) is community support. Since the firm’s founding and addition of John Ullrich in 1942, Wipfli has made a strong commitment to serving the Wausau community in many ways including volunteering and lending their business expertise on various non-profit boards to in-kind donations and monetary support for organizations in the community. Continuing that legacy, the firm’s Wausau office currently supports more than 50 nonprofit and community organizations including the United Way and the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin.
John Ullrich was a founder of the original firm, Wipfli, Ullrich & Company. As a demonstration of his commitment to the community, in 2003 Mr. Ullrich (1915-1996) was recognized as a “Builder of Community” by the Wausau Daily Herald and in 2009 he was honored as a “Champion of Business” by Junior Achievement. At the heart of his personal philosophy was the conviction, “You owe more to your community than the taxes you pay.”
Jeff Stubbe, another present day Wipfli partner adds that an additional key to Wipfli’s success is developing relationships. “We truly enjoy getting to know our clients personally as well as the intricacies of their businesses. At the end of the day it really comes down to trust and respect,” says Stubbe.
The Wausau location continues to grow and evolve as new services are made available to more Wipfli clients. Since June 2011 five new positions have been added to its Benefit Administration Services group. Wipfli’s local impact on our economy is more than $6 million in payroll annually for the firm’s Wausau office.
